Oil Leak And Bell Housing

On the bell housing there are two inspection covers. The larger one and the smaller one. I noticed that I have oil leaking out of the smaller one. I have done research on the forum, but it looks like most guys are referring to the larger inspection cover. Any ideas? Could the small one still be a rear main seal?? Thanks in advance! By the way this is on an 07' gmc cc nnbs with 64,000 4x2.

My truck is in the shop as we speak, rear main seal the shop says.My truck only has 30.000 km on it.that sucks.I had the same problem with oil leaking out on to my driveway.2009 Z71 with 5.3

I had a leak in the bell housing area, and a local GMC dealership replaced the rear main seal and rear engine plate cover. It began leaking again months later, and a Chevrolet dealership found that the previous GMC dealership did not use RTV sealant like the TSB for the notrorious oil leak states. This time it was fixed right.

I was going to start a new thread but might as well add to yours. I have the same issue but it is definitely red ATF fluid coming from the smaller one. Looks like from doing a search it may be a transmission converter seal or pump seal problem up in the bell housing? My truck is a 2007 classic, 4L60, 5.3L, 4x4, started leaking with very low miles.
