Speedo Help ....rear Gear Swap On My 2010 1500

Hey guys,

I know there are a bunch of threads on this, but i could find anything about what happens to the speedometer when you change out your gears.

I stopped by a local tranny / gear shop and talked to the owner about swapping out my 3.08's for something higher....probably 3.55-3.70 or so. Price seems acceptable.....about $1500 total since its a 4x4. I love my truck, but it just plain sucks when it comes to around town driving and it just feels so underpowered...... I also tow occasionally an enclosed 6x12 trailer( 3500 lbs or so loaded), so i just want some more pick up when i hit the gas. My only question is this.....what will happen to the speedometer based on my gear changes? Can it be re-configured manually or is it all computer programmed?

Thanks !

He's got the 6-speed and the 3.08's suck.

If your going to do a gear swap, I'd SERIOUSLY consider the 3.73's. I have them in my NHT and they are awesome. And you will need some sort of tuning to correct the speedo and shift points. Blackbear performance can fix you up.

The 3.73's come out of the hole like a rocket ship but still get decent mileage with the 6-speed
