Thanks. I looked at 2 or 3 videos and one shows one side and one shows the other. Directions didnt really say but common sense told me the same as your answer.

Yeah, that way the force of the air pulls the excess oil through the fibers of the filter, and thus absorbed before it can go through the intake to the MAF sensor. Whereas, the other way would cause the excess oil to be drawn directly into the intake tube right onto your MAF sensor, and boom, a brightly lit CEL.
