Remote Starter Problem

About 5 years ago my original remote start quit working on my 1997 k3500 so i had my dealer replace it. Now it is acting up with a differant problem. Sometimes when i start it with the remote there is a terrible grinding sound like the starter isnt disengaging quick enough, it lasts maybe 5 seconds or so then goes away. When this happens the truck will shut off and restart normally. It doesnt do it all the time and has only done it when started with the remote, never when starting it with the key, and it seems to only do it in the morning. I replaced the starter for the heck of it and it still does it. Is there a relay in the remote system that could be sticking sometimes and not disengaging the starter?
