Hesitation

I have a 2004 Silverado 2500Hd 6.0 litre. 235000km, The truck has developed a severe hesitation when accelerating from a start. It seem like the enginine shuts down then starts again. I just came back from a trip pulling may 5th wheel. The problem was slight at first but has gotten worse. When I left a rest area after shutting down for the night the truck was chugging and hesitating, as I accelerated it got better and went away. After the truck sits for the night the hesitation is back. This seems to be a problem at low speeds and when the truck is cold, this happens whether I'm towing or not. I scanned the truck and got no codes. My guess is fuel pump but I would like some Ideas before I spend big bucks on a pump.

I found the problem. The connector to the Engine Temp. Sending Unit was broken, the engine would stall when the contacts separated.
