00 Silverado Buzzer

Hello all,

I would like to disable the dinging noise that is made while the driver door is open and the key is still in the ignition. I obviously don't want to disable the door triggers, since that would have negative effects on my security alarm, and cause the dome light not to come on. I also don't want to remove the buzzer all together because it's helpful when d-bag mechanics try to drive with the parking brake engaged. I've heard that there are types of software available that allow you to modify certain attributes of a vehicles computer. Would this be a solution for me? Does anyone else have any helpful tips? Thanks

A few days after I posted this, I decided that the buzzer had to go. It was a very simple process, took about 10 minutes, and is completely reversible.

Remove the plastic panel under the steering wheel. Two 7mm screws should be holding it in.

Locate, unplug, and remove the BCM (Body Control Module). It should be directly under the steering column.

Open the BCM, locate the buzzer, and desolder it.

Put everything back together. Save the buzzer if you think you may ever want to re-install it.

I guess I should specify, this is on a 2000 Silverado. I'm guessing it only works on the 99-02 models. My dad has an 04 3/4 ton Duramax and I know it won't work on his. I used to have a 97 Tahoe. On those the buzzer is just a little black box that you can unplug.
