Exhaust (muffler cut-out) question

Hey!

I seen a gmt900 driving around and it had a great sound. Driver told me all he did was remove the muffler and run pipes to the back. Just a question, is there any real disadvantages to removing the muffler? With so many cats you wouldnt think it would matter. Share with me your thoughts!

the other question though, is it legal as far as noise ordinance etc? I used to have a cutout put on before the muffler and the times i didn't want the obnoxious exhaust i would just put the cap back on.

running "straights" gives you NO mechanical advantage at all, and it sounds like crap IMO. Put a straight through designed muffler and call it a day. If you want loud, Dynomax Bullet or Cherry Bomb Extreme.

I knew it wouldnt give anything more then louder sound, but I was looking more for disadvantages as in loss of torque for example..
