Almost perfect ending to holiday weekend - fuel pump snake rears it&#3

So I've got the ole Yukon XL packed full of stuff along with with our five kids in tow, on our way home from Chicago, after a great family Thanksgiving day weekend. Then the truck dies on 65 South(1p.m.), close to Lafayette Indiana. Fortunate for us, we were following my in-laws home so they circled their car back around and picked up three of my youngest kids(that's all they could fit). So then I crawl under her, whack the gas tank with my open hand as my son turns the key. She starts for a few, stumbles and dies. We try a couple of more times with the same result.

So we called the local tow wrecker - waited about 45 minutes for that and then we arrive at the local Firestone. After this and that we're having a new fuel pump put on. At 5 o'clock and $750 later, we're on the road home again.

All in all, no complaints. At 131K on her i knew it was a matter of time. As a side note, the mechanic was pleased and somewhat surprised that it had an Airtex stock pump installed not a Delphi one. He mentioned not having to change the wiring, since he replaced it with the same pump. Since I'm the original owner, told them that's what it came with.

Sucks but isnt that how it always happens. Don't ever seem to have problems when you are driving down the street.
