6.2L Borla ProXS muffler swap

So I just ordered a Borla ProXS  40353 3" in/out that will replacing the stock muffler reusing the stock tail pipe. I originally was going to go with a Dynomax VT but saw some negative reviews of the valve rattling and or getting stuck open due to a spring failure so I decided against it. So after the decision my choice was magnaflow or something comparable. I needed a drone free set up as my truck is going to be the family hauler on vacations and long trips. 2 rear facing car seats (twin 17mo olds) and a full back booster seat for my 3.5yr old just fit better in my CC than the car. BUT, I also wanted something that would have a little rumble, more so than stock. I found a couple of videos of an '08 & '11 with a Borla catback and it was the exact sound I was looking for. It should arrive on Friday so I'll get a video of before and after of startup, idle, rev, wot and in cabin highway cruise and 65-75. I'll keep you guys updated as I get it done.

Borla has great catback systems. I too did Alot of research before I purchased my after market exhaust. It was between Corsa and Borla and I decided with Corsa because of the awesome elimination of cabin drone. I got the touring although I should have gotten the sport. Still live it though and very nice tone. At start up it's awesome and then slowly gets lower but at soon as you pull away it sounds pretty badd ass

Borla also offers a touring and s-type cat backs for the 6.2 but at $1100+ price same as about your set up I'll just buy a $100 muffler and pay 35 bucks to have it welded in place.

The muffler arrived today and it is a great looking muffler! I'll be getting it installed first thing in the morning. Videos soon to follow.

stock exhaust is 3.5''......just sayin

3.5" od to the muffler and a little

Over 3" od after the muffler, the stock muffler won't flow better than a straight through Borla muffler. Plus numerous people have replaced the stock muffler with a 3" and not had any issues at all.

All I am saying is that when you reduce the exhaust at any point to 3'', you are reducing all of your exhaust to that point. There is a reason why chevy ran such large diameter pipe.

I plan on putting a muffler on my 6.2 as well, but it will be 3.5 in/out. I really don't like the idea of reducing my exhaust size. the 6.2 breathes a TON of air, and remember an engine is just a big air pump.

just my .02.

I agree with this. I made the mistake of downsizing and while it made some low end umph.....I could tell it wasn't as quick as before one I was over 3000 rpm, So I used a magnaflow 3.5" si/so offset and it made a world of difference.
