Replacing mode door actuator in 1991 GMC Sierra

Hello.

 

The passenger side mode door actuator in my 1991 GMC Sierra started knocking (25 seconds on ignition, 25 seconds after shutting off). My truck has the "manual" actuator.

 

I'm tempted to try and replace it myself given that I've heard a dealer will charge appx. five hours of labor to replace it. I've also seen posts that suggest I could get to it by going through my glove compartment. I can just reach my hand up under the dash to touch it and can kind of see it with help from a mirror and flashlight.

 

Do any of you have experience with replacing the mode door actuator in a early 90's GMC or Chevy truck?
