Tahoe/yukon Information

<font color='#000000'>Hello everyone, I just signed up to the site as I am in the market for a used Tahoe/Yukon 4X4 to replace my daily driver (Escort wagon - long story).  My price range appears to be a 1995-1997 model.  Are there any good sites that I can reference to compare the model differences.  I currently only know that there was an increase in HP for the 1996 model as compared to the 1995.  I would lean towards the 1995 model only based on my experience with my camaro and OBDI Vs OBDII found in vehicles 1996 and newer.

 

Some information I would like

 

Known weaknesses, common component problems...

Detailed engine specifications (Example, do certain years have stronger components? Pistons, rods, etc.)

Modification potential

 

Basically as much information as I can get.  I stumbled on this site and it looks like a great place to ask!

Welcome to the forum.  This place is a wealth of info on GM trucks. :thumb:  The Tahoe should be a nice replacement for the Escort.  My personal preference would be to go with the '96 model.  This was the year the horsepower went from 200 to 255 hp.  Torque was  310 ft-lbs and 330 ft-lbs respectively. As for the OBDI vs OBDII issue, OBDII would give you a bit more info when things go bad, but will require a code scanner to retrieve that info.  Also, if you are planning to do an aftermarket dual exhaust, the '96 up has twin catalytic converters instead of the single on the '95.  The '97 has the revised dash for the passenger airbag. The most common problems with all of them is the tranny valve bodies and front axle actuators.  The '96/'97 models had some issues with the fuel pump, injectors and EGR.  Fuel mileage was improved from '95 to '96-up by at least 1 mpg.  Hope this helps!
