Ticking/honking sound from right front dash area

Hi -

 

I have an '07 Silverado Vortec Max - Crew cab - with about 71k miles on it. For the past 6 - 8 months I have intermittently heard a sporadic ticking sound coming from (it seems) right front dash area at idle or light loads. The ticking sound is usually accompanied by a faint "honking" or rubbing sound coming from same area. I have pulled over and lifted the hood when I hear it while driving but can't localize the sound over the engine's noise...it seems to only be discernible from the cab. It doesn't occur with enough regularity to take it to a dealer but it's driving me crazy - any ideas??

HVAC actuators MAY need a relearn ,stick your head under dash and move thru the modes of HVAC system with key on engine off in a quiet area

Check yout transmission oil dipstick tube see if its broken. Seen a few come in for dash rattles and it turns out to be the broken tube vibrating
