First in 1997, now another heartbreaker for the McNeese State Cowboys. The Pokes lost the National Championship Friday to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

 

McNeese is known as a "second half team," but that wasn't the case at Friday's Championship game in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

 

ESPN2 televised the game but the cowboys were behind all game, never taking the lead. The final score was 34 to 14.    (kplctv.com)

 

just wanted to say im really pround of my 1-AA college i attend here in Lake Charles, LA.  The cowboys went into the game ranked #1 nationally with i think a 13-1 record, with their only loss in a semi close game against the 1-A Nebraska cornhuskers team.

 

Maybe we can pull it off next year, go pokes!!!!

 

note; earlier in the season, @ a home game, the cowboys beat the same team who beat them at the championships by a even greater margin....owell
