Has anyone here ever taken your factory flares off? I've almost hated mine from the day I bought the truck and while I've read that it's pretty simple to take them off, I'm worried about color variation after they're gone. It's a 2006, so I don't know if the paint has faded enough tto be noticeable. Also, if I change my mind, how hard are they to put back on? They look ok, but goofy with the factory wheels. They already tuck the tires in under the fender, so the flares are redundant IMO. Thanks guys. Before and after pics would be great if anyone else has done this.

I thought the same thing when I had my 05 Z71 with flares. I put a set of wheels and tires on it, and it looked great, but if I have a choice on having them I'll do without.

If you decide to take them off, it shouldn't take more than some clay and a good wash. If you find you have a hard line there, it may need to be polished out. The only thing that could really cause any problems is if there was some repainting done and they masked the flares instead of removing them.

I bought the truck with 43k on it so it wasn't very old. I've never hada any paint work on the truck done, and there's no evidence of any previous work before I bought it so I don't think that will be an issue.
