97 silverado hvac box removal

I have a '97 silverado z71, actuator motor on hvac box is working. There is an arm that comes off of the motor and connects to the box with a push in type connector. The connector is pushed into a hole that should hold it in place. Mine has come out of the hole and will not stay secure when I try to push it back in. If I hold it in place it works and I can use the selector. As soon as I let go, it falls out and the motor moves the now disconnected arm.

I have a '97 Tahoe with a blown motor and crappy interior that I use for parts for the Silverado from time to time. It appears all is fine with the HVAC box on the Tahoe so I was thinking about removing it and placing it in the Silverado. Now to my question: How do I remove the HVAC box???? Is this a workable solution? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.....
