Hesitation off idle when cold

Recommended Posts

When I first start my truck, I get a slight hesitation when I go to pull out.  I don't even have to give it much pedal and it still does it.  It seems to go away when the truck is warmed up.  Any ideas?

My '02 does it as well. I have 45K miles on it and changed the fuel filter at 30K. Even when it is warm sometimes it will do it. I can back out of the driveway, put it in drive, and it stumbles (and yes, the truck has shifted into drive). Don't know what the problem is...I got a thing in the mail from my local dealership saything that it was time for a fuel enjector cleaning. Anybody else had this done?

My brother's 96 7.4L was doing the same thing you guys are describing. A friend of ours that works at the dealership sprayed something in the throttle body to keep it from sticking and it hasn't done it since. It was something with GM on the can. Sorry I don't know more.

you should clean your throttle body every 15K miles or so if you're in a extreme use area like me. Also, try warming your engine before traveling - run it at 3000 RPM for 30 seconds with 2 minutes rest until your coolant needle points straight up.

It's weird, how so many of us have the same problem. My truck does the same exact thing when it's cold.. I'll go to leave for school and the morning and it scares me

Hey, guess what my '99 is doing this as well, sometimes bad, pulling into traffic and nothing!!!!!!!!! then wham, raps up fine, It has even done it after a long time running (Hot), Mostly cold and oddly enough mostly does it in the middle of a turn pulling onto highway, but does it from a stop.
