How to remove antenna

I am trying to complete the antenna delete from another post and I cannot get the antenna to unscrew from the base. Is there something I need to be holding on to so that it isn't turning with it? Right now it just keeps spinning and not coming off.

  Ha!! So GM Customer service, ive already been talking with someone on your email team and there is nothing they can do. So pretty consistent with everyone else’s experience- you can do NOTHING.. worthless emails. Sure glad i have 4 GM cars on our family cuz now its clear you dont care.. Sad and pathetic.
