Seat switch, down is up & up is down...?

My seat switch has gone crazy.

I bumped the seat memory switch in my 05 LT Crew Cab the other day and it attacked me !!

The back pushed foward, the thigh support went up & the back dropped down, all the while it was mashing me into the steering wheel.I thought I was in Christine's sister.

Anyway, I adjusted everything back to normal except it felt like the thigh support was not going all the way down. It looked about right but did not feel the same. I jumped in my 02 and the front was down lower.

It would bottom out & the motor would stop like it is supposed too. No binding, grinding or straining to work. It sounded like the "off" or end of travel switch was working & turning it off.

I started removing the seat bottom today, but just got to remove the nuts for the front & slide it out of the back slots before I had leave. Took the wifes car & was gone too long to finish the seat tonight. Put it together and hit the switch.

Up on the front of the switch made the front go all the way down. Down made it go up, but not all the way. The back worked normal. I played with it some & it seems to have a halfway point where it changes. With the seat front halfway up, up on the switch is up & down is down, until it stops with about an inch to go. Then if I move the back of the switch a little, the front changes & up will lower the front the rest of the way down. Down will then raise it up some, wiggle the back, then up moves it all the way up.

Now, all I did was remove the nuts, no harnesses were undone. So I guess this must have been triggered when the seat attacked me.

Do I need a new switch, is it the sensors on the motors or do I need to just learn how to work my psycho switches?

Thanks for your help.

GM used some real crappy switches on their late 90's to mid 2000's - wouldn't surprise me in the least if the switch was bad.

I had an "express UP" window on my '00 Jimmy - otherwise known as ... A GUILLOTINE! Don't stick your head out the window!

Was probably the switch ... but after a myriad of electrical gremlins in this pile, I parted it out. First vehicle I ever threw in the towel on. I couldn't take it anymore.

I google'd this & it looks llike the seat control module has to be refreshed with new software from the dealer.

Anyone had this done?
