I have used synthetics or synthetic blends for 6 years. I began using the synthetic blend Valvolene Syntech when the fuel lubricant sales person called on me one day. The maintenance department that I managed at a golf course had been using 10w-30 in some vehicles and straight 30W in other machines (Mowing Equipment) Engine wear on the equipment was extreme because most of equipment rean 6 to 8 hours a day 5 days aweek. High heat in the summer and cold in the winter. We switched to the blend in order to better protect the machinery during high stress use.. End result was less failures and less money spent on major overhauls. If you think repairing a domestic truck is expensive try buying parts for a Toro Or Jacobsen fairway mower. There isn't much redundency of equipment in an operation like a golf course so when a fairway mower does go down it puts a strain on all the other quipment trying to keep up with the mowing.

I ran the oil that came with my new truck for 3000 miles then put Mobil 1 in it and that is all this truck is gonna get. I voted on 4000 mile changes but it will be more like 3500 to 4000.

With Mobil 1 I change the oil everytime the  oil minder light comes on.

Between 3500 and 7200 miles.

Man, I just don't trust lights on the dash telling me when to change my lubricant. Does anyone know how the warning system works ...is it reliable. I'm sticking with 3500 to 4000mile plan .

I have been kind of curious about that myself! The manual says to change it when the light comes on and the dealer confirms that. From what I have heard, as long as you change your filter every 3k to 6k miles you can run a good synthetic for 10k to 12k miles (dont think Ill be trying that though:nono: !)!

I just wait till the light comes on, when I am towing a lot it seems to come on somewhere between 2500 and 3500 miles and when I am not towing it comes on between 4000 to 5500 miles. Reguardless it never looks all that bad when I change it.  :thumb:
