Electronic 4x4 shifting

I have a 2007 2500HD that is VERY slow to shift from 4hi to 2hi The light blinks for a long time and I sometimes have to shift the tranny to neutral to get it to shift. Anyone have some help for me. I just bought it. I don't even know if there is supposed to be a light on the dash that indicates it is engaged.

Corrected: 4hi to 2hi. Not 4hi to 4lo
