Remote Start causing all electrical to fail

Recommended Posts

I have a 2007 GMC Sierra and has been a great truck so far. Once its gotten cold I tried to use the remote start and it goes through what sounds like the first step then it cuts out and all electrical to the truck fails. I disconnect the negative cable on the battery terminal and move it and then the lights come back on and am able to start successfully each time with just the key. I can't find anything in the manual about the remote start fuse or anything to that sort and curious about any suggestions on where to look or others with the same / similar experiences. Thanks

Yes it is factory but I am also experiencing this same issue upon normal key operating ignition start in cold conditions. If I turn the truck off and go into a store while it rests for a while so it doens't cool down it starts right up. I have cleaned off the battery terminals and secured the pos / neg positions and will let it sit for a couple days. Then I will see if that is all it took. Only started to experience this once cold weather hit. I purchased back in March. It sat on the dealer lot from Nov 12 to March 13 so even with a good battery it could have been negatively impacted with the cold season and not used.

I mention this because I did not get a clear understanding of what is happening when you say it cuts out and fails.

Remote start starts the engine, but you have to insert the key and turn to run for the truck to operate normally. Also it will only run for 10 min and stop, you can only use the remote start 2x and then it will not work again till the vehicle is started normally with a key.
