Power Programmer on different years of truck

I have an 01 GMC w/4.8L, and my brother just got an 03 Silverado w/the 4.8L.   Would a Power Programmer made for the 4.8 work on both trucks?

NO! Programmers are year specific, at least Hypertech's are. The new one's out (SPE, Diablo, etc.) may work on both, you'll have to call and find out. Even if they work on both trucks, you'll probably only be able to use it on one truck at a time.
