REV LIMIT

Can any of you tell me what the factory rev limit is?  And at what rpm and speed?   Had a problem when opening up my 02 Silverado 5.3L got it up to 100 or so mph than the motor seemed to just shut down for a split second, i thought that something blew but it drives fine.  i haven't since brought myself to get it to try to duplicate the problem and thought that i might ask if anyone encountered the same problem

Thanks

What does your speedo go to?? My 2001 Blazer went to 100 mph and the computer would limit the truck to 99 mph. It was a 5-speed and I tried it in 4th and 5th gear, it would do the same thing. GM limits the speed by cutting fuel or spark (not sure which) to limit your speed. I think some were even limited to 95 mph. Reprogramming it with one of the aftermarket programmers will take care of it.

My old 96 s-10 would shut off @ 94. 5 speed 4.3.

Seems like I had the 'rado up there before, but can't remember when it cut out, seems like it was below 100 though.

rev limiter determines how many RPM's you can get on a gear.  this is not the same thing as the top speed limit, which can also be changed in the computer.  with the hpp3 you can set your top speed to 128 MPH and your rev limit from 5500-6200 RPM

The trucks are electronically governed to shut fuel off at 98 mph, stock tires aren't rated for higher speeds. Stock rev limiter is 5800 I believe but not sure. I used my HPP to raise my speed limiter to 110 and raised my rev limiter to 6100, shift points are set for 5984 from 1-2 and 5984 from 2-3.
