Headlight buzzer on with dead battery today.

I have not driven my 02 2500 gas in 3-4 days. Battery was dead last night when I tried to use remote to lock doors for the evening. Doors would not lock w/ remote. No lights were on during the past days or last night. I have been in and out of the truck getting tools while it has been sitting. Nothing was on. I got the truck in September, battery looks newish, but purchase date buttons were not removed. I have charged it several times after I have left doors open for a while or listen to radio for an hour or two. It starts fine if I use it regularly.

When I went out to hook up charger this morning, the headlight on buzzer was buzzing weakly. Lights were switched off. I cycled the switch & it stopped.

The battery charger said battery was at 5% when I hooked it up. Was this buzzer just going off today because of drained battery? Never had one do that before.

I guess I will charge it & get a load test done. Battery sure looks too new to be doing this. Ends are tight.

I am wondering if there is something drawing it down or if I need to load test it first before I can diagnose anything else? I do not want to buy a battery if I do not need to.

Thanks.

Charge the battery fully then have it tested. There should be a sticker on the battery (usually on one of the sides) that has the manufacture date (usually month - year). Depending on the manufacturer, the month would be a letter code ( A=Jan, B=Feb, C=March, etc...) There will always be a slight draw on a vehicles battery from the memories in the modules and audio system, which is why a battery tender or starting it every couple of days help maintain the battery. But have the battery checked first.

What he said , ^^^^^^^^ , if it fails ya have no choice or like ya say it's fine if you use it all the time ,

Ask a garage what a parasitic draw test will cost , finding a high draw is anoth matter that typically will cost the straight time of the tech
