replacing abs pump on 04 sierra

i have to replace the abs pump in my 04 2500 hd gmc sierra. my question would be do i have to use a scan tool to activate the pump motor when i bleed the system. ive looked on line and all i see is questions on how to bleed the brakes after the lines have been replaced. i have already replaced all the lines in the truck but the pump never went dry(did not have any problems bleeding them that time). if i put the new pump in would i be able to get fluid all the way out to the bleeders without running the abs pump. any suggestions would be great. i just dont have a scan tool that has that option. thanks

If there are no bleeder screws on the new pump then yes you will need the pump to run. I always use a scan tool but it is possible to jump the relay to command the pump on to bleed the air out of it.
