Oil pressure fluttery and whining sound from the engine

I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 5.3l 1500 and my engine has been making a whining sound and my oil pressure gauge is bouncy between 50psi and 20psi rapidly at idle, I'm not sure what's causing this any help would be appreciated

First thing I'd do is check oil level to make sure it's good. Then, regardless of the level hook up a mechanical gauge to double check actual oil pressure (I'm sure there is a thread here somewhere to tell how to do this). At the same time you need to find out exactly where the noise is coming from and get a sound clip to post up. Hard to help without truly hearing the sound your engine is making. If all else fails unfortunately you will need to take it to the dealer or a shop to have diagnosed and/or repaired.
