to lift or not to lift?

Well I was tossing around the idea of a lift kit for my truck.  If I was to do it I would probably go with an 6" kit, maybe an 8.  Here is my problem, if I was to do it, to make things look right I would have to put larger tires on the truck.  And if I did that the truck would barely be able to get out of its own way.  So I would have to thow a whipple on the dumb thing.

I don't want to start anything but here goes........I went 4 wheeling with several folks that had lifted trucks and they just didn't work.  They couldn't see at drop offs and were too tall and tippy to drive the off camber side hills. Too wide to go on my trails.  They look real tough on the boulavard but are very limited off-road.  I'm not saying you cannot do to your truck just exactly what you want,"it's your truck".  I just haven't seen any 4X4 HD truck that could perform off-road lifted as well as a stock height truck.  I think one must weigh just how you going to use your truck.  I tow and use my truck to go exploring off-road, plus daily driver.  I may get a little wider tires when stock wear out and beef the suspension, but no lift for me.  This is just my opinion so don't blast me.

GF7PE, I know you said you wanted at least a 6" lift, just something to consider, is I'm running a 3" B/L with the t-bars cranked alittle, currently I'm running 295 Nitto's, but things are changing next week, I'll keep you posted. Click on my pics to see my current set-up.

I say lift it :nono:

The added clearance of larger tires may come in handy whenever your offroad.

The larger tires will aid in sand, snow and water crossings.

No you cant hit some of the trails the jeeps can, but thats not why you bought a truck, however, ive been on some pretty hairy trails and did very well (of course i dont own an hd ).

GF7PE, b/l was easy to install, just alittle time consuming.  Did it all with hand tools, no air.  Did the bed one night about 2 hrs. the cab I did the next day by myself, took about 8-10 hrs. overall not bad.
