140,000 Mile Check In

It's been awhile since I was active on the forum, so thought I would share some updates on my truck.

I'm up to about 140,000 miles (I've had my truck since new) and recently went through some maintenance and repairs.

I'm on my third set of tires, running BFG All Terrains, and this is the only tire I will ever buy again for my truck, I've had tires from all the big names and these are the best.

On my third set of front brakes and second set of rear drums/shoes. I've been using Autozone's Gold Ceramic's with good results, they last a long time, low dust and low noise.

Just now got around to replacing all the fluids, notably the transfer case cracked when putting in the drain plug, it has a JB Weld band aid on it right now though. It's a common problem, I guess my definition of hand tight and 13 ft lbs is different. Diffs were about what I expected, along with transmission pan and filter replacement.

Also recently noticed growling from the front end which I suspected and confirmed as the wheel bearings going bad. So replaced them with more Autozone house brand parts. Time will tell how well they last. Seems like its a pretty mixed bag of results on name brand vs. non on longevity.

While doing the above repair I also replaced outer tie rods since the boot was torn on one of them.

Some amusing adventures were having to replace the foam seal around my air filter ox because a rodent chewed the factory seal to pieces.

My truck does use some oil between changes. I go by the OLM and at around 30% life left I usually need to add a quart. Not sure how many miles it runs between changes but I'm sure its between 5-10K mile intervals. Again a common issue and based on the intervals I change at I'm not overly concerned by it.

Aside from what I mentioned above only other problems I've had with my truck has been, a power window that has quit working, the rear driver door. And the plastic factory exterior door handles breaking off when the door is froze shut in the winter.
