How to purge A/C system.

Recommended Posts

I bought a vacuum and all the coolant I need to restore my trucks a/c. I have no idea how to do a complete purge. Anybody have a step be step on how to do that?

Replaced the condenser. That's it.

Some of the fluid came out but not all of it, I'm sure.

I'm trying to figure out how to get the rest of it out so that I can do the vacuum and put the new refrigerant in.

If it is just the compressor oil in it, some residual oil left in the system is fine. If you have left the system open for a long time, you don't want any trash floating around in there and a flush of the evaporator and condenser with a/c flush solvent and compressed air may be in order.

If it's just oil, it will be just fine with some residual oil left in the system.

Replacing the receiver /dryer should be on the list of things to replace however if the system has been open or discharged for a while.
