2008 5.3l swap

Hey guys,

 

Been reading several topics and I have a few specific questions.

 

My 2008 crew cab 4x4 5.3l is starting the common lifter problem at 160,000 miles. I have noticed some white smoke also at startup.

 

I am wondering with the mileage is it worth footing the repair bill, or I have found a 2013 lc9 that has 20,000 miles on it for $3,000. (The harness is damaged and it has sat a about a year an a half) Which option is best and can I use my existing harness with no issues?

 

My current engine runs great minus the tapping and smoke, I just don't want to spend money on something that will develop other problems.

The lc9 has variable valve timing and probably some other things. Si it would best if the 2013 harness is used

Around 2009 or 2011 variable valve timing was added

Will my harness work with the 2013 if I change the ecm? Sorry I'm just confused what is actually diff between the two and what would have to be done to make it work.
