Bruce, I can't help but say you look different in that pic. But, I suppose if JP is going to pass of some pic of a little kid surrounded by fish than you might as well.

Now to just find a pic of my uncle's record muskee. It was a record for 7 days than someone caught a bigger one. I know he was in the paper for it, he's got the article at his house. He's got the fish mounted in his cottage, I swear you could stick your whole arm down that things mouth if you wanted to.

This fish is the new record bass for the California Delta. It's alive in the picture and was released back into the water alive.

Nah, same bass. Photo was taken from long distance. The focal length of the lens makes the bass appear larger than it is.

How long has it been dead?

How many times did they hit it over the head?

There's nothing wrong with that fish Dihappy

When bass reach a certain size (around 10lbs) everything about them starts to change, their eating habits, they way they travel through the lake, hunting and even how they grow. That fish is alive and was let go back into the lake (for me to catch one day)

Has anyone ever seen Roland Martins infomercial about his Helicopter Lure? The bass he "supposedly caught (another story)" was around 20 lbs...had the same type of eyes this fish did.

I'll post the article in here about this bass.

"You have got me Kentuck. I am not a biologist. I have heard different things like, the fish gets so big in the body it needs extra big eyes to see and rotate because of its mass. (It would have limited vision otherwise with this theory, if the eyes didn't bug.) Or just genetics, and any bug eyed smaller fish caught was destined for Arnold like greatness. I honestly don't know and don't want to spread any urban (Bass fishing) legends or wives tales. No kidding the eyes bugged out so far, I wondered if they were even functional. It honestly looked like a deep water ocean fish that got exagerated eyeballs from being caught deep and reeled up. The guys at the Hook that go to Mexico said many of the big fish over there look like that.

It was really an unreal experience seeing a fish that big, and I had the feeling for me it might have a once in a lifetime deal.

"The picture we see here does absolutely no justice to this fish, it is of MAMMOTH proportions! Everything about this fish up close is HUGE, not just it's eyes(And actually, she was blind in one eye!). The scales, are as big as a quarter. Her nostrals ya could slide a pencil into. Even her side fins were as large as some keeper spots I saw up at Oroville! HAR! I could not touch my thumb and middle finger around the beefy part of her tail. You could actually count the rows of teeth in her mouth.

Like ya said Andy, it was truly something else to see in person!

"Was out there in Disco with Galen and Ray Rychnovsky doing a photo shoot. Wow! What a monster and she is being held temporarily in a huge underwater tank and is in excellent condition. She's a very photogenic gal and didn't seem to mind the careful fondling at all. There's a call into DFG to see if'n they have any interest at all in this fish before turning her loose.

Guys, NewbieZ71, MDF (Doctor of Fishology) here. The fish had gas. Thats all. It a sub species "Bassus Fishus Mexicanus". Probably had some refried beans earlier in the day. No big deal.

OK, maybe it was alive, but i dont think thats normal.

Ive seen many many fish over 10lbs, on TV, magazines, etc and never have i seen a fish with eyes like that.

Ive never caught a 10 pounder, but ive got a 9 on my wall

P.S. That fish's scales are not the size of a quarter, unless that guy has quarter size fingernails. Look at his hand where hes holding the bass, his belly scales are actually smaller than his fingernails.
