4WD dash indicator light

I have read numerous posts about the design defect with Chevy trucks with auto transmission and 4WD and not having a 4WD indicator light on the dash (only a tiny LCD light on the selector knob that is completely out of the driver's view while driving). Someone in the San Luis Obispo area was selling a kit for a short time and then evidently went out of business.

Anyone know of a current solution or kit for fixing this problem?

I don't like that we can't see the 4X4 indicator either....you can see the damn thing is there, just not part of the system anymore. Who thought hiding it out of view was a good idea at GM????

My thinking at this time is to buy another control switch for $30 from the dealer and mount it with a bracket where it can be seen and extend the wires from the factory one on the dash to the new switch at the new location.

The position of the selector knob was truly stupid and one that GM has not acknowledged to be a problem and one that could be easily fixed by changing the location. It is compounded by not putting a light in the dash (as is done by Ram and Ford and Toyota) that is in your face. I get all kinds of less important information displayed in the dash but not something as important as knowing the vehicle is still in 4WD. And with my truck the selector switch does not by itself always change the transfer case out of 4WD low to 4WD high and takes some playing with to get the change made.
