Mylink iPod problems

Since I got the 2015 Silverado with the 8" mylink I have not been successful in using my iPod plugged into the USB port. It will work for a few songs then say no device is connected. I thought it might be the cable so replaced it with a new iPod cable & the same problem keeps happening. I looked at the iPod when mylink says it is disconnected and the iPod screen says connected, if I try to manually control the iPod it is frozen until I force the iPod to restart then connect it & it starts to work again for a few songs then again it shuts off!

 

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to fix this? It drives me nuts not having all of my music!

I have a 2014 1500 Sierra SLT and have found the Infotainment System to be very finicky.

I have three generation 6 iPods, one original version and two later versions, sometimes referred to as generation 6.5 or 7, and I could not get any of them to work.

I also have two generation 5.5 iPods that do work.......most of the time. But I really was not happy with this arrangement. I finally gave up on the iPods and exported my songs to a 64GB SanDisk Cruzer Fit USB Flash Drive, and it worked much better. I recommend this solution.

Thanks Big Thunder II. I was wondering how well a flash drive or SD card would work. With your flash drive how did you manage your file structure?

All my music is on a Mac in iTunes. Did you just copy your music folder structure from iTunes?

created a new playlist in my Mac iTunes of the songs I wanted to transfer to the flash drive and then I had to drag the songs. I recall that I had to drag mine in groups of 1000 or 500 and even then it took a while. I really don't recall the exact procedure I followed. I googled instructions and got a lot of different ones, but finally found one that worked for me. I believe I used one of the two on the attached. Good luck.

Thank you so much Big Thunder II! The Attachments you showed will really help me out. I ordered a large USB flash drive and will start transferring songs to that!
