2015 1500 with tow hooks Bull Bar Install Help

I just got a bull bar, and need to remove the factory tow hooks to install the BB. The bolts are in a weird position. Anyone have any tips in this

The passenger side is real easy to get to the bolts, the driver side however, is a much different story. You have to completely remove the front end, including the front bumper to get to the one bolt. Poor design if you ask me. That's what I experienced when putting my bull bar on. Only other option, cut the bolts if you don't want to take the front emd apart.

I was afraid of that. I am thinking I can trim the long bolt in the drivers side with a sawzall to get my socket wrench on to that trimmed bolt. That may work. Thoughts?

Ok so here is what I did. I took the bolts I could off, but that one on the drivers side is jammed in so I took the nut off then cut the head off with a sawzall. Then it popped right out. Instructions for the bull bar said to take the bumper off. Um no thanks. Problem solved.

Well, there you go then. I thought about cutting it, but OCD kicked in and couldn't do it lol. Glad to see you got to where you needed to be with it. Again, I definitely feel like a piss poor design with that drivers side. Like really, they couldn't have put them bolts in a better place, or a little easier to get out, or something.

Is the 2014 (in this video) & 2015 a different design? GMC to Chevy different? I'm presuming not. Because these guys don't show having to remove the bumper to install, just the valance. Also to confirm, once installed you lose your tow hooks, correct? They can't be reinstalled like some makes of trucks allow.

I can tell you on my brothers Black Widow, the blue truck the tow hooks were removed to install the bull bar.

Thanks. Sorry meant to type "can't be reinstalled". Fixed original post. So if my sight is not failing me, it looks like the brand of bull bar your brother installed goes directly into the holes of the tow hooks, whereas the Westin installed underneath the bumper but still requires the removal of the tow hooks? Or is that just the illusion of the photo?

On my brothers the bull bar mounts into the holes where the tow hooks "were".

Luckily my truck didn't come to with tow hooks so when I bought them I installed the bolts the only way they would fit, had to hammer one in tho. When the time came to install my go rhino 3171b push bar the way I had my bolts really helped c49e4e056b9177a8c370471c895a7d21.jpg
