Question on the various programming modules

I have a 2500HD 8.1 with the ZF6.

Do the various programmers (predator, superchips, hypertech, etc.) help with standards? the benefits most people seem to cite is the effect on shift points.

Any advice?

I have very limited experence with the programers but I will give you my opinion.

For normal driving the PPs have no effect on the motor. They only have affects on autos(shift points) or when you 'put your foot in it'(higher hp).

The programmers will work there engine "magic" regardless of the tranny. However, one of the biggest advantages of them is the ability to defeat the torque management, which I'm not certain applies to the manny tranny. But the recalibrated fuel curves, tire size compensation and the elimination of the speed limit should all still be available.
