Dash lights out and ac lights

Gonna bump this post, still a problem. 99 GMC SLT 5.3 4WD

 

No background lights in dash or ac, installed a sony radio, now i have no lights, i went thru the fuse box in engine compartment and inside and found the trailer lights fuse busted so i replaced it, all others were good, STILL have no lights, pulled the radio out and the orange dimmer wire was bare, so i capped it. I'm assuming it may have grounded.

 

So basically, Im not at my end of knowledge on this.

 

Also, i installed with battery connected, dont know if maybe that has something to do with it, maybe shorted the BCM?

 

The dimmer switch only work when clicked up it turns the down light on.

All other lights work, turn signals, message center etc....

The illumination on these trucks runs through the dimmer switch, which may have got messed up if that wire touched anything. I had the same issue with mine and replaced the dimmer switch and all dash lights work again.
