I have a 2000 silverado right now and its a 5.3.. I'm selling this one to my dad and getting a 2003 but not sure if i shold go to the 6.0 liter because this time i want to lift it.  whats the difference in gas mileage between the two.  I'm gonna lft it and put 37's on it and also change the gears to match the tires.. what to go with??

K1500 is right that the 6.0L is only in the 1500HD's and 2500HD's, and also the 2500LD and some specialty trucks like the SS and Escalade and Denali.

With a lift kit and 37's you'll want some power, and the 6.0L would do the job.  But with the lift and big tires your MPG's will suffer no matter what engine you chose.

If you're going w/ 37s, you'll want 4.56 gears.  In terms of 5.3 or 6.0, only you can answer that.  Go drive a 6.0 and see how that compares to the 5.3 you've driven.  I've got the 5.3 in my 2002 Z71 and I've got 9" of lift and 36 Swampers and it's an awesome combo.  I'm regearing to 4.56s this summer.

It doesn't sound like the price of gas is a problem with you so why the concern about mileage? My 2500 HD gets 12 to 13 on the road and 10 towing the trailer. I have never been sorry that I went with the 6.o.
