Silverado Drone fix, easy and cheap

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I know drone is a big thing with everyone running custom exhaust and cat backs. Same thing happened to me, wanted to let you know how I fixed mine... First off I have a 09 Silverado 6.2L Crew cab with Long Tubes, no cats, and a dynomax ultra muffler with stock resonator and it droned like crazy at the usual 1600-1900 rpms, to the point it would make my change rattle in the cup holder.... Debated doing the Heimholtz thing but didn't have a welder and didn't want to spend 140 at a muffler shop to install it. So instead I bought a 3.5" Patriot Exhaust Insert that fits in my tail pipe. Also took 5 mins to install. It was $17 bucks on Jegs and all the drone is gone. Don't feel like it took any power away either but drone is gone!!
