Z71 vs Base. Does truck sit higher?

I'm going to purchase a new Avalanche fairly soon black with the WBH option. I was wondering if there is any difference in the suspension height on a Z71 vs non Z71 option? I don't really need skid plates or off road shocks. I'm thinkign of saving the $1000 and putting it towards a nice set of wheels and 31 inch tires. Thoughts? The local dealer has a black one with chome wheels and also has the decals removed. It looks nicer than an EXT.

There is no difference in ride height between the two, except anything you get from the optional tires (and I'm not even sure that they are any taller).

Wow, there's a 1K difference just for the Z71 package!? On my truck, i think it was only an extra 3 or $400.

I think the Z71 package on the Avalanche includes different wheels and tires as well if I'm not mistaken.
