strange noise while driving

Hi all, I just noticed this over the weekend, While i'm driving I hear something that sounds like the brake guide is hitting the rotor, but the second I hit my brakes it goes away? Then comes back once i release the brakes, this sounds like it's comming from the drivers rear wheels. Any idea's on what this might be?

Thanks

I've been searching and it seems there are a lot of problems with the parking brakes on the year of my truck. Could this be causing that sound i'm hearing?

I had what I think is a similar problem on my old 91 GMC Sonoma. Turned out one of the connections involved in the parking brake had come loose (not re-installed correclty after getting rear brakes done). Anyway, the noise I heard was one of the parts rattling around in the drum until, like you I stepped on the brake. I had a shop fix mine but I'm sure if you know anything about cars you could probably DIY but it definitely sounds like the parking brake. Mine scared me when it happened, thought the tranny was about to pop or something since it only happened with brake off, luckily only this issue.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for the info. I'm planning on tonight taking it apart to look to see if I see anything weird!! I'll keep that in mind!!!

Thanks again!!
