Yet again! Bodylift??

I searched here for an hour reading old posts about pros and cons of doing a bodylift. I already know that I am going to do a bodylift, done them on other trucks and liked the results. My question deals with problems with the transmission/t-case linkages. I am going with a PA 2" BL with the rear bumper relocating brackets. On previous trucks I've put a BL on, they were manuals with the t-case shifter on the floor. Wasn't that bad to deal with, just cut the sheet metal for more clearance. My 97 however is an auto with push button 4wd. What problems, if any, are encountered doing a 2" BL? Only reason I'm thinking about a 2 and not a 3 is the frame will show even more than normal. Does a 3" look that much worse than a 2"? Thanks, Chris

I don't have any first hand experience with anything other than my new body style '99, but if your '97 is like it, there are no linkages to deal with. Both the tranny and tcase had electrical harnesses with plenty of room to move with my 3 in B/L.

Thanks, for the help Tom. I have one question for you. If you were able to buy a 2" Bodylift for your truck would have, or do you like the 3"? I know the newer body styles show less frame than the older ones. Just trying to decide which route. I'd like to go as high as possible, but not make it look stupid. Thanks, Chris.

I think I would go with the 3 inch either way, but I know the frames hang lower and are more visible on the previous body style trucks. If I had one of those, maybe I'd think aobut it more.

Do you have step rails, or plan to put some on? They will help hide the frame some.

I don't have any steps right now, but this fall my wife is supposed to get me the Steelhorse Challenger SS steps. I already thought I'd have to adjust the mounting brackets to raise them. I think I'm just going to get the 2". Just want a little more room for my tires, plus I'll be getting a much bigger truck when I get out of dental school. Thanks, again, Chris
