Dome Light

So the dome light isn't working on my 96 k2500.

 

The extra lights on either side of it work.

 

I was missing the driver's door switch so I replaced that.

 

The button by the headlight switch isn't working properly so I'm thinking that I need to replace the thing?

Dome over ride switch? That's what your talking about right?

Ya, the rotary control for the dash lights is fine but the little in and out button labeled "dome over ride" does nothing.

 

Am I supposed to be able to turn on the dome light with the rotating wheel that controls the dash lights?

Well I've been working on this a bit and both door lights are working fine but still no dome light.

 

I know now the switch on the dash is bad. I found an owner's manual online and the override button doesn't work right but the rotary dimmer control is working fine and that should turn it on but nada.

 

With everything up to and including the reading lights next to the dome light working I'm gonna guess it's maybe a bad ground or something? I see a red and a white wire, I'm assuming the white is the ground.

 

Geez the weather here is terrible! Gonna have to wait for a bit.
