New Coopers

Finally got rid of the stock Goodyear ST which were worthless on a wet road. Searched Tire rack.com but was getting confused reading all the conflicting reviews. I went to the tire guy in the next town who takes drop shipments from Tire rack. I told him how I drive and asked for some suggestions. He mentioned the BFG AT and the Cooper Discovery AT. After looking at both tread patterns and warrantires, I went with the Coopers. We been getting monsoon rains and these tires are totally awesome, surefooted and gives you real confidence. Hope they prove out in the long run. Guys at work been looking at them and everyone says excellent looking tire! :D

I recently purchesed a used 1999 siverado. The previous owner put the Cooper tires on for me.

Q: I have never heard of cooper before, he said they were good but i dont know for sure.

How do they stack up to other brands?

And as you said, they seem to handle the water good, I'm in Maryland and it's as wet as it has ever been.

Although I don't have them on my truck, I have run Coopers on other vehicles. I was VERY happy with them. Don't remember the model but the competed with the Goodyear Eagle GT +4 and the Coopers were a better tire at a much better price IMO. Made in the good old USA. If my current attitude towards the french doesn't change, when it comes time to replace my Michelins, I may just go Discovery!

Ive got cooper discoverer HT's on one of my trucks right now. They are wearing VERY good, Ive got 40K on them and expect another 10K at least out of them. The ride is as good or better than most tires Ive ran. BUT, traction in snow is not good, and wet road traction is marginal at best. These are the HT tires though, the other designs may be much better in all weather conditions.

I have Cooper Discoverer ATs on my truck right now and they are awesome, better in the rain than dry it seems! I have about 15,000 miles on mine now and didnt think they have worn very much but my Dad just put a set of them on his truck and mine are wore some compared to his. I'll probably get about 30-40K on them before I get rid of them, but I never run them anywhere close to the wear indicator. Overall great tire for the price, I paid $99 a tire for 265/75/16 Load Range D.

I bought the Stampede 285's for my truck. They are made by Cooper the tire guy at Tire Kingdom said. I went in there with the cash and intent to buy the BFG's A/T K/O. He talked me out of it by asking where did I drive the most. He showed me how they wouldn't channel water as good as the Stampede's would. I have about 10k mile on them and love them. They beat the h**l out of the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S I had. The only downside is they make a touch of noise. Not as much as my buddies BFG's but more than the Goodyears.
