I had my ring and pinion replaced and this is my wear pattern. Please let me know your thoughts.

 

 

 

I have a little decel whine from 50ish to 35ish mph. I have about 700 miles on them now so I hear they will always have the slight whine. No whine on accel that I can hear with the windows up and no radio or AC.

 

Please let me know your thoughts. The whine isn't bad but drives me a little crazy. Some days before they get warmed up, no slight whine on decel.

 

I went from OEM 3.08 to AAM (OEM) 3.73. I hear things like harmonics can do this whatever that means.

If you notice that the howling noise only occurs during deceleration, then it is a good indicator that the pinion-bearing preload has loosened.

It's been like that since I got it back so it's loose. How do I tighten that?

I may have somewhat look. Any damage to drive till then? Wear looks ok, right?

Take it back to whoever did the change out and have them fix it. Should be no noise when its set right.
