Best Hitch?

Looking for a rear hitch for my 96 1500 extended cab shortbed Z71.

 

Basically just want it to tow a small one axle trailer holding a lawnmower and 4 wheeler, but I might as well get the biggest and best hitch I can find.

 

Something you can mount a winch to if the need arises would also be cool.

 

Also, something that isn't going to be covered in rust in a year would be nice, although it seems that is a common problem with all of the hitches I've seen. I guess black powdercoat is the only way to go?

 

Anybody have any good recommendations?

I just found someone who is making a 304 stailess steel hitch for GM trucks. he just started and they are catching on like wild fire.. IT will never rust and broke the machine when getting the rating!!! I just installed mine on MY GMC savanna and it fit perfectly and looks beautifull. Smooth welds and all hardware included. YOu can even have it polised instead of matt finished. The cost of a normal powder coated hitch for my truck was about $150. this hitch cost me $200. how can you beat that!!!!! The contact is Heberling and beck auto on US route 30 , Latrobe PA. phone, (724) 539-9533

Be glad to post some pics for you guys !!! give me a day or 2 to take them and post them. But for those of you sarcastic members that live in texas. I would like to inform you that most manufaturing companies ship the products that they sell. After all I did list the name , location and phone number of the people that are selling it. It came within 2 days of ordering it!!!!. After that there isnt much more i can do for you. But I would be glad to answer any questions that I can help you with.

let me fill you guys in on how I came upon this hitch.

I did a search on ebay for hitches and came upon a listing for a stainless one for my truck but the auction had ended. I never heard of that before so I did some research and came up empty. I searched the net for days for stainless hitch's and got NO hits!! there were no others listed on ebay either. I tried to contact the co. that listed the hitch by sending an ebay email but had no luck.

Finaly I was able to get a number from a person who had listed feedback on his purchase of the same hitch from that ebay member. I got in touch with HERBERLING and BECK and they were great. very patient and had all of the other accesories as well. he said they were getting a website up as we spoke but I have yet to get the addess or view it.

They immediately took my order and put the stock in the jig and made mine up , it was here in 2 days Via UPS (FROM PA. to NY) and I also ordered from them the harness, stainless reciever ,and stainless hitch lock.

Not sure how they are for trucks, but after seeing a few Valley hitches, i bought 2 and put them on the jeeps. they hold up really well, aren't expensive, and haven't rusted at all. that's hard to beat for $100.

Thanks for the tips guys. While the stainless steel sounds like exactly what I would want, I don't want to do mail order since I'm in Canada. I've ordered a few small items from stylinconcepts.com before and the duty/fees they charged me was unreal, so I can just imagine what I would be stuck with trying to get a hitch across the border.

 

There's a local shop that sells all the big brands like Reese and Draw-Tite, etc. which is where I will be buying it from. I just wanted some advice on models so I know what to look for before I go in.

 

I hate going in blind and then getting stuck with whatever crap the sales guy was trying to get rid of that day.

Does anyone know if stainless can be painted black? I think It would look funny being a stainless hitch? Got those pics up yet?
