Thanks Jim.  I guess I was hoping the problem had been solved after three years and perhaps OP was still lingering around.  

I have a 2018 2500 HD LTZ.  I bought it used with ~22,****** miles and noticed that the alarm/panic system will go off as I'm walking away from it and randomly in the middle of the night with nobody around.  Everytime I inevitably get back into my truck it flashes the message "Theft Attempted". 

Now this has left me wondering whether this is why the previous owner traded it in.  Any help appreciated.

Same issue with my 2018 Silverado it was a faulty hood pin telling the vehicle my hood was open setting off the alarm
