Front brake caliper bracket bolt fell out

I have 2016 Silverado LT 5.3 8sp with about 13,000 miles on it. Returning from a 1000 mile round trip and about 50 miles from home, I hear this "rattling" sound coming the front left side of the truck. The truck is usually so quiet I initially thought the noise was from another vehicle on the freeway.

Long story short, pulled over and observed the bottom portion of the front left brake caliper was riding on the inside barrell of the rim. Chewed up the wheel balancing weight and left two gouges in the rim.

Vehicle was subsequently towed to the Chevrolet dealership where it was discovered the bottom bolt from the caliper bracket "fell out."

Dealer mechanic poached a bolt from another vehicle on the lot and got me back on the road. They ordered a new rim and advised no further damage was apparent.

Other than this incident, truck has been trouble free and doesn't have any vibration or other issues many experience with these trucks.

Just an FYI post.

Had the same thing happen to me down in Baja, ziptied it for a few miles and got to a town where I asked for a mechanic, in hopes of finding a bolt.

Person i spoke to sent me to a guys home where he had set up his shop in the backyard. Drove into his property and could clearly see all the engines and parts laying around and thought "there has to be a bolt here somewhere"

The owner came out and we talked for a little, turned out he worked with my grandfather back in the 60s as a truck driver. He then walked to the back and gave me an identical bolt!! I was surprised and grateful for his help. Put loctite on that SOB and gave the guy some pesos for the bolt. Saved me a whole day trying to magiver myself out of Baja.
