ENGINE CODES 99-2003

Hey i have a 2002 chevy 2wd silverado with what i thought was a 5.3 but vin shows it to be a 4.8 was wondering if any one knew where the engine vin code is located. Was told by dealer that it was on the passenger side front of the engine but after removing the water pump no number please help. Asking because engine may not be original.

Look in your glovebox for the RPO code sticker.

 

Look for the following codes:

 

LR4 - 4.8

LM7 - 5.3

L59 - 5.3 (flexible fuel)

 

Also, there should be an emission sticker under your hood that states the engine size.

 

Whoops, also see you think it may not be original engine?

 

Sorry, I've got info for the older engines but not the 4.8 or 5.3.

Ive called about 5 dealers and GM in Michigan who told me to call the dealer do the new blocks even come with a code stamped into the block what I am most looking for is the partial vin as on the older blocks if they are still stamping them into the block.
