Westers Garage!

So far, I can't say enough good things about Westers!

We recently purchased four Westers computers for my 03 2500HD 8.1/Alli, my cousins 03 Silverado SS, my Dad's 01 Magnacharged 5.3L 1500 and my sister's 03 5.3L Avalanche.

The 2500HD is a new truck! It's faster, it shifts better, no more speed limiter, and the dreaded torque management is gone! Once I "break-in" the computer I'll post some actual numbers but the drivability and throttle responce is unbeleivable. Now it acts like an 8.1 should!

The SS didn't show any real gain in 0-60 or 1/4 mile times but again the drivability, throttle responce and shifting is fantastic. And we've had her over 130mph on the back roads! Very Nice!

I'll be installing the computer in the Supercharged 5.3L this weekend and if it's anything like the others it will be a wild ride.

I would definatly recommend Westers mods to anyone!

Congratulations! I hope you really enjoy it!!! I've settled down a bit and can now report on my gas mileage. I was getting between 12 and 12.5 mpg stock and then got my new larger tires and was getting around 11. I got the Wester's and got about 11 while I was playing around with it. I've gone back to driving normally and just got 14mpg in the last tank. I went 445 miles on one tank of gas!

N900WM,

Does the Westers change the shift characteristics of the Allison? Did the Allison have to realearn how to shift? Overall, would you say there is a solid gain in horsepower and torque?

Thanks!!

ShortCrew,

Shifting characteristics are definatly improved. I have not noticed that the Allison or the engine for that matter has had to relearn. It's exibited sharp clean shifts right from the getgo.

Solid Gain in HP and TQ? I sure feels like it! The truck pulls HARD to 110mph. And the shifting has alot to do with that. After that I ran out of road. But I can certainly say that without torque management, there can be much better use made of the now available torque.

Before the truck would act like it was going to quit when you stomp the throttle at the stop light. Now it eats tires.
