4L60E automatic transmission compatibility.

Recommended Posts

I have a 1999 Chevy Express 1500, 5.7l van.  I need a replacement transmission. The transmission model number on my van is 9LHD. I have bought another 4L60E tranny from a junk yard, model number 4CAD, supposedly from a 2004 Chevy Tahoe. Will this transmission work correctly in my van? I have my doubts, for the bell housing is slightly different, no small bold holes for my lower dust cover. It also has a different input shaft shape, - compared to mine, the tip is different, that goes into it's torque converter. It also has only one electrical connector, instead of two, like on mine, on the gear shift selector / neutral safety switch. I have not talked with the owner of the junk yard, yet, that sold it to me and who said it would work on my van.  So, in summary, will a 4L60E, model number 4CAD, successfully replace my 4L60E, model number 9LHD? Thanks, Steve.
